Why Pinal County Busted Mugshots Aren't Online

The inmate search portal that formerly operated at app1.pinal.gov/search/inmate-search.aspx is currently paused. Pinal County Sheriff's Office announced this suspension shortly after the Houston v. Maricopa ruling came down from the federal appeals court. That case established that routinely posting booking photos of people who have not yet been convicted could violate their constitutional rights by effectively punishing them before trial. Rather than risk similar litigation, PCSO proactively paused their public mugshot and inmate information systems.

This pause status could change. The sheriff's office may resume some form of online access with modifications similar to what Maricopa County implemented. They might develop a new system that complies with the court ruling while still providing public information. For now, the online search remains unavailable. Request Pinal County Booking Photos

Even with the online portal paused, Pinal County busted mugshots remain public records under Arizona law. You can request them through the sheriff's Records Unit. The office is at 971 N. Jason Lopez Circle, Building C, in Florence. Mail goes to P.O. Box 867, Florence, AZ 85132. In-person visits are accepted Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, though calling ahead for an appointment at (520) 866-5193 is recommended since walk-ins may face wait times.

Fees for Pinal County records are standardized. Police reports cost $7.50 for documents up to 25 pages, then $0.25 to $0.50 per additional page depending on the type of record. Traffic accident reports run $5.00. Clearance letters also cost $5.00 if you need documentation of your criminal history status in the county. Payment must be by money order or business check only, as Pinal County does not accept cash for records requests. Personal checks are not accepted either. Plan accordingly when submitting requests.
